Survey Reveals 77% of Boards Prioritise Sustainability As Key Responsibility
A global survey by INSEAD, Heidrick & Struggles, and BCG titled ‘Boards and Society: How Boards Are Evolving to Meet Challenges from Sustainability to Geopolitical Volatility’ found that 77% of Board members believe sustainability is their company’s responsibility.
However, only 36% feel prepared to use emerging technologies like AI, and 37% have robust strategies for managing geopolitical risks. The survey also uncovered tensions between Directors and CEOs, with one-third of Directors questioning their CEO’s ability to handle disruptions.
Experts emphasise the need for Boards to adopt a proactive approach to governance. Directors also expressed concerns about their company’s ability to identify new risks and opportunities, especially concerning sustainability and AI. The report highlights the importance of aligning Board members with management to navigate complex global challenges.
