Shakti Pumps Appoints Hirabhai Patel, Bhim Singh & V.S.S. Pavan Hari as Independent Directors
The Board of Directors of Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has approved the appointment of Hirabhai Somabhai Patel, Bhim Singh, and V.S.S. Pavan Kumar Hari as Additional Independent Directors. The Board has also approved the appointment of Ashwin Bhootda as an Additional Whole time Director of the company. All the appointments are with effect from July 20, 2024, and subject to the approval of shareholders.
Furthermore, the Board has taken note of the completion of the tenure of Navin Sunderlal Patwa from the post of Independent Director of the company w.e.f. July 30, 2024.
Hirabhai Somabhai Patel was the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Gujarat Cadre. He retired as a Municipal Commissioner in Vadodara. During his career as an IAS officer, he has been posted as Deputy Collector and Sub-divisional Magistrate, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Secretary, Gujarat Electricity Board, Chief Executive, Alang-Social Shipbreaking Yard, and Chief Executive, Gandhinagar, Collector and District Magistrate. He was MD of Uttar Gujarat Vij and Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company, Gujarat State Energy Generation. He has a postgraduate degree, a special law background, and a specialisation in urban management from Singapore.
Bhim Singh is a SERB National Science Chair and Emeritus Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and has more than 45 years of experience. He has a doctorate (Ph.D.) in electrical power from IIT Delhi and has received various awards and recognitions, like the President Prize from the Institution of Engineers (India). He is a co-author of the book “Power Quality Problems and Mitigation Techniques.”. He was also an Independent Director of NTPC and currently holds the office of Director at Evans Electric and Magneto Technology.
V.S.S. Pawan Kumar Hari is currently working as an Associate Professor, Department of Energy Science and Engineering, at the Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay, Mumbai. Prior to this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, USA, for approximately 2 years. He was associated with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, as a Research Associate and worked as an engineer in Engineering and Development, Automation Products, Low Voltage Drives Division in Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Bengaluru. He has a doctorate (Ph.D.) in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
Ashwin Bhootda is a seasoned professional with over 17 years of experience in sales and marketing. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Business (MBA-IB).
