Rakesh Kumar Rajput Appointed as CCO of HDFC Bank

The Board of Directors of HDFC Bank has approved the appointment of Rakesh Kumar Rajput as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of the Bank for a period of 3 years with effect from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2026. He replaces Arun Mohanty, who retired on September 30, 2023.

Rakesh Kumar Rajput began his career in 1994 as a Probationary Officer at Indian Bank. He then joined the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in July 1995, where he worked for over his 26 years. He reached the position of General Manager in the Department of Banking Supervision in Mumbai before moving to HDFC Bank as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer in May 2022. At RBI, he gained extensive experience in regulatory inspections. He oversaw supervisory matters for various banks, including Citibank, Amex, Bank of India, SBI Cards, and SBI, along with smaller multinational banks. He also held multiple roles within RBI, providing him with deep insights into compliance.

Since becoming Deputy CCO at HDFC Bank in May 2022, he has been a valuable asset due to his vast regulatory knowledge. He possesses a deep understanding of the complex regulatory landscape governing the Indian banking industry. Working alongside the Chief Compliance Officer, he has played a crucial role in guiding the bank through challenging regulatory issues and instilling a strong compliance culture.
