Olympus Corp announced the dismissal of CEO Stefan Kaufmann following allegations of illegal drug purchases. Kaufmann, who became CEO in April last year, focused on expanding Olympus’ medical equipment business. Former CEO Yasuo Takeuchi, 67, will temporarily step back into the role. Olympus stated that it initiated an investigation immediately after receiving the allegations, with assistance from external legal counsel.
