KCP Sugar Appoints B. K. Kalyanaraman & Malini Narasimhan as Independent Directors
The members of KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Limited have approved the appointment of Ramachandran Bakthavatsalam, Krishnaswamy Kalyanaraman, and Malini Lakshmi Narasimhan as Non-Executive Independent Directors for three years, with effect from April 1, 2024.
Ramachandran Bakthavatsalam, 86, is a fellow member of the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering. He has rich and varied industrial experience as an Industrial Engineer, having worked as a work study engineer at Tube Products of India and as a Chief Industrial Engineer at T.I. Stainless Tubes, United Kingdom. He has held various leadership positions, having headed the Human Resource Department in industrial engineering and other management services functions in various organisations. He has demonstrated general management skills, problem solving, decision-making, and relationship-building expertise, and exhibited throughout his tenure the competency to interact with people at all levels of the organisation, the company said in a statement. After retirement, he moved into academics, held a position as Dean at Sastha Engineering College, and was an advisor to Veltech Group. He has also served as a Director (MBA) at Sriram Institute of Management and Prathyusa Engineering College. As an educational professional, he has almost four decades of expertise in the education realm as a professor, examiner for various projects for MBA curricula, trainer, and resource person at various universities like Anna University, Madras University, and Sri Venkateswara University.
B.K. Kalyanaraman, 78, has rich and varied experience of more than 55 years in mechanical engineering, having done extensive research on both pneumatic and hydraulic conveying of solids, authored various publications relating to this subject, and had notable accomplishments in developing a plant for hydraulic conveying of solid materials. He received the award for Best Article from the then President of India, Mr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, for the article on the hydraulic conveyance of solids. He was also named the Best Engineer in the Sugar Industry in 2005 by the Institute of Engineers, Kolkata. As a mechanical engineer, he has held leadership positions in operations, corporate strategy, and planning and has led key business transformation and organisational restructuring projects. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, and a Masters of Technology (M.Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
Malini Narasimhan, 59, a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) from Women’s Christian College, Chennai, is an event planner and renowned wedding designer for the past 25 years, known for her traditional decor with handcrafted flowers and garland makers. She is a well-known woman entrepreneur and founder of a Coimbatore-based wedding planning and decoration company named The Mind’s Eye. In her career, she has worked with artists from all over the globe, and she has played a pivotal role in introducing 3D techniques and styles in the design industry. She also upholds the fame of being the first inductee ever in the International Convention of the Wedding Fraternity (ICWF) Hall of Fame.
