Kamlesh Varshney appointed Whole-time member of SEBI

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announced the appointment of Kamlesh Varshney as a Whole Time Member. Varshney was a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He is moving to Mumbai to fill the vacant position at SEBI.

A second full-time member seat is also open, and according to some media reports, two executive directors at SEBI are the front-runners for it. Business World reported that the consensus among policymakers and regulators of the stock market is that one full-time member should be chosen from outside the organisation, while the other should come from within SEBI for continuity’s sake.
