Biswamohan Mahapatra and Himanshu Kaji Step Down from Edelweiss Board

Biswamohan Mahapatra ceased to be Independent Director of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited, Mahapatra’s second term as Independent Director ended on September 26, 2023. Additionally, Himanshu Kaji resigned as a Director and Executive Director of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited during the AGM. He was eligible for retirement by rotation at the AGM but did not seek reappointment.

Biswamohan Mahapatra has more than 30 years of experience. He retired from RBI (Reserve Bank of India) in August 2014 as an Executive Director. At RBI, he was in charge of regulations for banking policies and supervision. After retiring, he was involved in the process of giving licenses to new banks. He represented RBI in meetings in India and around the world and led many RBI groups.

He was in charge of preparing a framework for the financial holding company system in India and helped make the rules for Basel II and Basel III. He is also an Independent Director for several companies. Recently, he became the Non-Executive Chairman of the National Payments Corporation of India. He has a Master of Science in Management (MSM) from Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute in Cambridge and an MBA from the University of Delhi.

Himanshu Kaji has more than 30 years of experience in various aspects of finance and business. He has been managing several important areas at Edelweiss Group, including risk, finance, legal matters, and administration. He’s involved in industry committees like the FICCI Capital Markets Committee, NSE Trading Member Advisory, and CII National Forum on NBFCs and HFCs. In the past, he was part of SEBI’s Secondary Market Advisory Committee and played a significant role in transforming the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange). He advised major financial companies in India and around the world. He’s a Chartered Accountant and has a diploma in Securities Law.
