
Corporate India Grapples With Mental Health Issues Among Young Employees
India Inc. is grappling with rising workplace mental health challenges as younger employees face higher stress levels and organisations seek better support systems.
According to 1to1Help’s State of Emotional Well-being Report 2024, based on over 83,000 counselling sessions, mental health issues now rank among the top two reasons employees seek counselling, affecting 15% of corporate workers. Younger employees, especially those under 25, report significantly higher levels of anxiety (90%) compared to their older counterparts. Manager-referred cases revealed 59% involved self-harm risks, underscoring the urgent need for manager training in identifying and supporting distressed employees.
Additionally, 52% of counselling sessions were attended by women, and financial anxiety remained a key concern among men, highlighting evolving workplace stressors.
